Congrats on the pregnancy!! You sound like me a couple of months ago but trust me it is all very easy.

If you are happy with the doctor you have at the moment (I know a good doc is hard to find) then I would just stick with them. No need to phone ahead and let them know, your doctor will have everything they need. Usually your doctor will do a urine test and then organise for you to get some bloods done to confirm and make sure you are healthy. I think most doctors will organise for you to have a scan at this appointment but that depends on how far along you are as your first ultrasound usually won't be done until at least the 8 week mark.

I guess all doctors are different but mine went through a variety of things from how I was feeling about it to how often I will need checkups and bloods and things like that.

Hope all goes well for you and bub.Im pregnant need some advice from some mothers or pregnant women?
You should go to an OB-GYN Which is a Dr more suited for pregnancy. A standard first visit is usually with a nurse and they will want to know things like your family medical history, whether or not you smoke, What if any medication you take, When your last period was, that sort of thing. And you will most likely have to pee in a cup (they only need like an inch of pee, so no need to fill the little cup to the brim) And your weight and blood pressure. They Just need something to compare with your next visit to see if there are radical changes. And you will get a prescription for, and maybe even a bagfull of prenatal vitamins in little sampler boxes.

If you see a Nurse-Midwife or Doctor, you may get a pelvic exam and a pap smear.

When you call to make the appointment, make sure to tell them that you think/know you are pregnant. It will make things go smoother. And I recommend getting there about 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
You could go to your regular doctor first, but if he/she doesn't deliver babies then you might as well make an appointment with an OB/GYN. OB means they deliver babies. Yes tell them that you think you're pregnant when you call. When you go the first time they will probably take another pregnancy test just to confirm that you're pregnant. You will fill out some questions about your health history. You will be asked when your last period was so they can predict a due date. The doctor will probably do a pelvic exam to see if everything feels right. You can ask any questions you have, and will be started on some pre-natal vitamins. They might also draw some blood to determine your blood type.
you can go to your regular doctor if you wish or a ob/gyn. The ob/gyn just specializes in that particular field. first doc visit, weight, some blood work, talk with doctor to tell you what to eat and not to eat, pretty much some basic stuff to keep you healthy.........and also answer any questions you may have. Tip: write down any questions you may think of before the visit because chance are your going to forget some of them when you are talking to the doc. When they ask you why are you here just tell them you took a home pregnancy test and your are here to confirm.

BTW - I went to a ob/gyn for my pregnancy.
hello koral..

well i am a mother of three and usually if your not noticable far along they will do a urine or blood test anyway at the first visit to confirm your pregnancy..at the first visit they usually just check weight and vitals of the mom and some initial blood tests to get everything started and my guess about the doctor is you go to an ob gyn or midwife i know some family practice doctors do also deliver babies so its your choice.
Your regular doctor, i think. Well they might check your urine and blood..
