I want to dress full-time and need help picking out clothing to fill my wardrobe. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank youCan any women give me advice on what clothing basics I should own? I am going to try to dress full-time.?
These are all pieces that aren't subject to style changes, so they will last you as long as you want to keep them. In addition, all of them are things you can dress up or down, and pair with other items for a different look each time you wear them.
1. Straight leg jeans with a mid rise. The ankle should be about the same width as the knee, and the waistline should sit right below your natural waist, not on your hips. It's a style that flatters every body type.
2. Jackets. A good jacket can be worn with jeans, suits, or dress pants. They can be mixed and matched with just about anything in your wardrobe to dress up a tank or cami when going out. Layered looks are always flattering.
3. A little black dress. Whatever the style to best flatter your figure, they are a timeless addition to any wardrobe, and you will find that you can wear it to most any event or occasion.
4. A black knee length pencil skirt. Again, this timeless piece won't go out of style, and can be mixed up for casual and informal looks. Throw on a jacket, and go to work. Throw on a sparkley top, and go out on the town. Pair it with stilettos, and you've got a sexy look that isn't trampy.
5. Straight leg dress pants. Another versitile item. Seperates are always a good investment instead of sets. With seperates, you can break them up, mix and match, for a different look every time you wear them. Plus, when a new fashion trend becomes popular, it only takes one or two new itmes each year to keep an up to date look.
6. A black purse/bag. Black is the single most versitile color. It can be paired with the more colors than any other neutral. A good purse will last for several years, and won't be a trendy style. Basic leather in a big enough bag to carry all of your essentials. No other colors or decorations that will only match certain outfits.
7. Solid color blouses. They can be worn to work, or worn out. Mix and match with jeans, skirts, or dress pants. Wear with or without jackets.
8. A dress watch. Much better than a leather or plastic strap, a good metal (gold, silver, etc...) watch can be worn at any time.
9. A strapless bra. Every woman needs at least one for formal dresses. Visible bra straps are just as horrible as visible panty lines, so invest in at least one thong or g-string for pants that are tight, or made of very light weight fabrics (like chiffon.)
10. Black strappy sandals. For the same reason as the purse, black will go with everything. A strapy sandal can be dressed up or down, and be worn almost year round (except when there is snow or ice on the ground that will freeze your toes.)
11. Black pumps. A basic pointed toe with a mid heel (2-3';) will go with almost every outfit.
12. Black dress boots. Same toe and heel style as the pumps, they can be worn with dress pants, jeans, and even some skirts and dresses.
13. A sweater twin set. The two pieces can be worn together, or broken up with different pieces, like the shell under a jacket, or the cardigan over a lace cami.
When shopping for new clothing, never trade style for comfort, or comfort for style. They are both equally important. Buy what you love, don't just settle for the ordinary. If you love what's in your wardrobe, you will be more likely to wear it through the years. Can any women give me advice on what clothing basics I should own? I am going to try to dress full-time.?
You must have:
Longsleeve/shortsleeve tees-GAP
White Dress shirt
Trenchcoat
Black trousers-Express
Dark wash jeans-Express
Neutral Colored Blazer
Accessories I reccomend are
Multicolor scarves
Watch with interchangeable bands
A great pair of stud earrings
All of the above and don't forget a few nice silky pyjamas and nighties. Also get the right sexy coats. A few nice thin scaves and a hat and gloves too. A few high heal boots and pairs of pantyhose too. They tend to get ripped so do stock up.
At least one pair of jeans (preferably Levi), a little black dress, at least one pair of stiletto heels, a sleek work suit, Converse All Stars, lots of T-shirts, a skirt or two, a ball gown (you never know when you might need one), a denim jacket, a couple of sweaters, and a Burberry mac/trench. Also, a few pairs of gloves, tights, scarves, belts, and a good brassiere wouldn't go amiss.
A good pair of denim jeans, a good suit (never know when you may have an interview, special occasion) a little black dress, belts - you can always mix and match these, and a couple of nice tops and skirts.
get some good jeans, a little black dress, a nice suit or something you could wear to a work dinner party, some cute skirts and some tops. jackets and shrugs are good too. and of course, belts.
