Pretty close to what I might expect from a renowned prostitute beater. As much as I adore Ben Franklin's political and science career, I wouldn't look to him for suggestions in matters of love. He was pure brute there. This was probably about his kindest, allowing older women some vestige of dignity and younger women a modicum of protection.
